Mission 2030 is a Global Youth Climate Summit

Bob Leonard - Climate Risk Manager
04.13.2021

Taking place on Monday, May 3rd, 2021 this summit is designed for young people to learn about our climate crisis, to participate by sharing their climate thoughts and actions, and to enable youth around the world to meet and get to know their peers. Mission 2030 is a free climate summit produced by This Spaceship Earth.

This Spaceship Earth’s mission is to develop a critical mass of crew members on Spaceship Earth. That is, people who understand that we must come together and evolve from being passive passengers on Spaceship Earth in order to avoid climate catastrophe. 2030 is our global deadline for avoiding the worst effects of our climate crisis.

The Challenge of Mission 2030 is to bring hands-on, project-based environmental learning into the classrooms of schools around the world, starting in 2021. While students at any level of education can benefit from such consciousness-raising curricula, presenters are in the 7th to 12th grade levels.

Our climate crisis will remain a major influence on the lives of youth around the world. Our mission is to be a catalyst for students, parents and teachers to become crew members of This Spaceship Earth. We are all astronauts on Spaceship Earth – it is time to stop acting like passive passengers and each take on the responsibilities of active crew members. That must begin with education. Climate touches everything. That means that every individual can contribute by doing something that interests them, something that will leverage their strengths.

Mission 2030 is designed to kick off this process via youth sharing their thoughts, dreams, actions and advice. It is time for teachers, curriculum developers, principals, and school board members to develop materials and courses that prepare today’s youth for the challenges (and opportunities) they will face.

We invite all students, of any age, to attend. We also invite students between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate and present via short videos. To learn more and register, please visit This Spaceship Earth
